A premium cabin is a quiet cabin. When a customer hears a buzz from the dashboard or a rattle in the door on a rough road, the cause is almost always a wiring harness or a panel rubbing against something. The fix is rarely a redesign — it is the right tape.
What NVH fleece tape does
NVH stands for Noise, Vibration and Harshness. A soft, high-loft PET fleece tape wrapped around the harness cushions every point where wires meet trim or sheet metal. The brushed fleece absorbs vibration and eliminates the hard contact that generates noise — without adding a rigid edge that could create a new rattle.
Fleece versus woven cloth — pick by the problem
- Noise in the cabin → soft PET fleece tape, for its cushioning loft.
- Abrasion in the engine bay → woven PET cloth tape, for its toughness.
Many vehicles use both, in different zones of the same harness. Specifying fleece where you need silence and cloth where you need protection is how OEMs get a quiet and durable loom.
Where it goes
Instrument-panel looms, door harnesses, roof and pillar wiring, and anywhere cable runs close to trim. It is one of the least expensive quality upgrades available to an interior program, which is why it has become standard on mid- and high-end vehicles.
