Which Documents Should You Request From a UL 510A Tape Supplier?
A buyer's checklist for verifying a UL 510A recognized component tape: who sells, who makes, who holds the file, which type it covers and which documents belong in the purchase order.
A request for a “UL certified tape” can mean four different documents. Before you quote, approve or order, decide which one your requirement needs and ask for it by name. This checklist is for purchasing and supplier-quality teams; the technical background is on the manufacturer’s UL 510A page.
1. Establish who is who
| Role | Entity | What it can document |
|---|---|---|
| Seller and exporter | EJOY Adhesive Technologies (HK) Limited | Quotation, samples, shipment, document coordination, invoicing |
| Manufacturer and certificate holder | Anhui Yijiayi Technology Co., Ltd. (ONEI), Mingguang, Anhui | The UL record, the IATF 16949 certificate, test reports and datasheets |
The Hong Kong sales entity does not hold the manufacturer’s certificates. Put both names on the purchase specification and ask that the certificate holder and the invoicing party are identified.
2. The documents, and what each one proves
| Document | Fields to check | It proves | It does not prove |
|---|---|---|---|
| UL Recognized Component record | File number, standard, category, type designation, issue date | Recognition of the named type under the named standard | Recognition of other types, a UL 94 V-0 classification, or suitability of your assembly |
| Model-to-type mapping | Which model you are buying maps to which type | Whether your model is the recognized one | Anything for a model not mapped |
| Flame test report | Report number, laboratory, method, specimen, conditioning, result, limits printed on it | The tested specimen met the stated criteria in the stated conditions | A classification, or a result for another construction |
| Quality-system certificate | Holder, site, scope, issuing body, validity | The site operates the audited system | The performance of any tape model |
| RoHS and halogen report | Report number, sample, scope, method | Restricted-substance and halogen status of the tested construction | Flame, shielding or temperature behaviour |
| Lot release record | Lot, model, revision, results, disposition | The lot you receive was released against a specification | That another lot behaves the same |
3. What the manufacturer’s public record states
| Item | Public record |
|---|---|
| UL file | E544340, UL 510A (ANSI/CAN/UL 510A:2023); US certificate UL-US-2552528-0, Canadian certificate UL-CA-2539592-0; issued 5 February 2025 |
| Type covered | Z1V020, fibre backing with acrylic adhesive — this record covers that type only |
| UL 94 | A third-party vertical-burn test to the UL 94 method on flame-retardant acetate cloth tape (report A2260546319101): all five specimens met the V-0 requirements. Only the room-temperature conditioning set was run, and the laboratory prints that the data is for research and internal quality control. It is a test, not a classification |
| IATF 16949 | Certificate CB02157, valid to 19 November 2028; management system of the Mingguang site |
Verify the UL record yourself on UL Product iQ and read the test-report scope on the manufacturer’s test-reports page. A report covers the sample it names and nothing more.
4. Clauses to put in the purchase specification
- The exact model and revision, and the UL type designation it maps to.
- Whether the requirement is the UL 510A recognition, a UL 94 test report, or both — stated separately.
- That the recognition is claimed only for the type named on the record.
- Notification before any change of backing, adhesive, site or process that could affect the evidence.
- The documents that accompany each lot, and the language they are issued in.
Send us the requirement
Send the model or construction you need, the standard your drawing names, the end-product requirement and the documents your quality team will ask for. We reply with the model that maps to the record, the documents that exist for it and what is not covered, so that the quotation matches the evidence.
