What Should Buyers Include in an EV Battery EMI Fabric Tape RFQ?
Prepare a comparable RFQ with the contact function, frequency range, substrate, die-cut drawing, evidence requirements and sample approval plan.
A comparable EMI tape quotation starts with the contact or shielding task, not a silver or black appearance. State the substrate, contact pressure, frequency range where relevant, part drawing and approval procedure. EJOY can coordinate a candidate offer and document review; the proposed model still requires application-specific validation.
1. What to put in the RFQ
| Field group | What to include |
|---|---|
| Function | Is the tape grounding a metal part, shielding a seam or gap, acting as a gasket or bridging two surfaces? |
| Substrate and joint | Mating metals and finishes, surface preparation, overlap, gap geometry |
| Contact conditions | Direction of conduction, contact area, clamping force or pressure |
| Frequency and field | Frequency band from your EMC plan and whether the problem is near-field or far-field, where shielding matters |
| Environment | Temperature at the location, humidity, vibration and the thermal sequence |
| Flame and materials | Any flame requirement and its method; RoHS and halogen needs |
| Part format | Slit roll or die-cut part, with the drawing, tolerances, liner and cleanliness needs |
| Evidence | The measurement you need, with its method; reports and certificates chosen separately |
| Approval and volume | Sample quantity, build instruction, decision date, annual volume, destination |
2. What is documented for the manufacturer’s conductive tapes
These are the manufacturer’s published records, not EJOY test data. The full rows are on the conductive cloth tape datasheets.
| Model | Thickness | Temperature | Flame | Resistance as printed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EP208-2110SS | 0.08 ± 0.01 mm | 80 °C | Not flame retardant | Quoted on the signed datasheet |
| EP212-2110SS | 0.11 ± 0.01 mm | 80 °C | Not flame retardant | ≤ 50 mΩ |
| BEP212-2110SS | 0.11 ± 0.01 mm | 80 °C | Not flame retardant | ≤ 50 mΩ |
The datasheets do not print the resistance method, area, pressure or direction, and none prints a shielding-effectiveness (dB) figure. Third-party reports on file for the conductive fabric tape cover RoHS and halogen only. If your requirement needs a measured shielding or contact value, state it in the RFQ with its method so it can be measured on your geometry. See the manufacturer’s guides to contact-resistance conditions and shielding test conditions.
3. Check the fit before you ask for samples
- The datasheets state 80 °C and not flame retardant for all three models. If the location or your specification needs more, say so now.
- Conductive and black are different properties: do not judge conduction or light blocking by colour.
- Orange high-voltage tape is a wrapping and identification tape, not an EMI shield.
4. Approve the sample in stages
| Stage | Record |
|---|---|
| Document review: model, revision, report scope | Review notes |
| Coupon check: contact resistance on your mating surface, method stated | Method, specimen, result |
| Joint or fixture test: attenuation in your band on a representative joint | Fixture, band, result and measurement floor |
| Assembly validation: the enclosure or module test your programme defines | Programme test record |
| Trial lot and change control | Lot records and the notification rule |
Send your requirement
Send your drawing, target specification and sample approval requirements for a documented quotation. We say which records already exist for the proposed model and which would have to be measured.
