The need: You are sourcing a mask for a plating, etch or e-coat line and the first samples failed somewhere other than the bath. Here is how to specify it properly.
Masks usually fail in the cleaner or the bake, not in the bath they were chosen for. Hot alkaline degreasing sits at the start of most routes and attacks adhesives that handle acid perfectly well, so an RFQ built around the main bath qualifies the wrong stage.
Give the complete route — cleaner, pickle, plating, rinse, seal, bake — with concentration, temperature and dwell per stage, and say whether ultrasonics or current are applied. Then define removal: when, at what temperature, and what residue limit counts as a pass.
EJOY quotes against the whole route, says which stage has evidence and which does not, and ships samples for a trial on your own line. Coating and converting detail is published by the manufacturer.
Cleaner, pickle, plate, rinse, seal, bake — each with medium, concentration, temperature and dwell.
Cavitation works on every exposed edge; current changes the chemistry at the surface.
Inspection method, lighting and magnification, maximum residue area, and the removal temperature and timing it applies at.
Photograph each critical stage and measure creep and residue against the agreed limits. Samples ship free.
Because a tape can survive the acid and fail in hot alkaline cleaning, in the rinse or in the bake. The weakest stage decides the outcome, and it is rarely the one named in the RFQ.
As a measurable limit: inspection method, lighting and magnification, maximum residue area, whether a cleaning step is allowed, and the removal temperature and timing it applies at.
Yes. Send a 2D drawing with tolerances, the liner and tab format and the annual volume. Cut-edge quality usually decides whether a part passes.
Often yes — they are quoted as different grades. Give us the full route and we propose either one grade or a split masking strategy, and say which it is.
You have to re-source or dual-source a harness tape and the quotes you get back differ by 40% with no obvious reason. Here is the information that makes them comparable.

See recommended tapeThe drawing calls for an under-hood abrasion class and you need a tape quoted against it, with evidence an auditor will accept. Here is what to specify.
