The need: Your specification gives a surface or contact resistance and you need a conductive tape quoted against it with a measurement method named. Here is how to ask.
A resistance figure without its measurement method is not comparable. Surface and contact resistance depend on the fixture, the applied pressure, the frequency range and the substrate, so two suppliers can both be honest and still quote numbers you cannot line up.
Decide first whether the tape’s job is shielding, grounding a joint or both — they are specified differently. Shielding effectiveness is a frequency-dependent figure; a grounding path is a resistance through a defined contact area under a defined pressure.
Send the function, the resistance or attenuation requirement with its method, the substrate and the joint geometry, and EJOY proposes a construction and states what evidence exists. Weaving, plating and coating are published by the manufacturer.
They are specified with different numbers. Mixing them produces quotes that answer the wrong question.
Fixture, applied pressure, frequency range and substrate — otherwise the figure cannot be compared.
Overlap, seam or full-surface coverage, and whether the tape is compressed in service.
A coupon measurement does not reproduce a compressed seam. Samples ship free for your own fixture.
Because surface resistance, contact resistance and shielding effectiveness are three different measurements, each with its own fixture and conditions. Name the one your drawing uses and the method with it.
The function (shield, ground or both), the required figure with its measurement method, the substrate, the joint geometry, the width and the annual volume.
Use it as a screening step. It does not reproduce a compressed seam, the assembly pressure or the real substrate — qualify on your own assembly with your own fixture.
Yes. Send a 2D drawing with tolerances, the liner and tab format and the annual volume; cut-edge quality often decides whether a grounding path passes.
You have to re-source or dual-source a harness tape and the quotes you get back differ by 40% with no obvious reason. Here is the information that makes them comparable.
See recommended tapeA rattle complaint has come back from the field and you need a damping tape sourced, validated and released before the next build. Here is what the supplier needs from you.
See recommended tapeThe drawing calls for an under-hood abrasion class and you need a tape quoted against it, with evidence an auditor will accept. Here is what to specify.
