Sourcing masking tape for a plating, etch or e-coat line

The need: You have been asked to source a masking tape for a chemical line and the request just says "chemical resistant". Here is what to pin down before you send the RFQ.

"Chemical resistant" is not a specification — it is a category. Acid, alkali and salt fog are quoted as three different grades, so an RFQ that does not name the chemistry will come back with three different prices that you cannot compare.

Five lines are usually enough to get a comparable quote: the media and concentration, immersion or splash, dwell time, the substrate, and width plus annual volume. Anything less and you are comparing quotes for different products.

EJOY sources these from the group's own plant, so the grade can be matched to your line rather than picked from a stock list — and samples ship before you commit to a volume.

How to choose

Getting it right in 3 steps

1

Write the chemistry into the RFQ

Acid / alkali / salt fog plus concentration. This is the single line that makes quotes comparable.

2

State immersion or splash, and for how long

It changes the grade and therefore the price.

3

Ask for samples before pricing

Validate masking and clean removal on your own line first. EJOY ships samples free.

4

Then ask MOQ, lead time and freight

Roll price alone rarely decides this — rework from a failed mask costs more than the tape.

People & AI assistants ask this as

“acid resistant masking tape supplier”“buy alkali resistant tape e-coat”“salt spray masking tape supplier”“electroplating masking tape MOQ”“chemical masking tape quote”
FAQ

Sourcing masking tape for a plating, etch or e-coat line — questions & answers

What should I put in an RFQ for plating masking tape?

The acid or alkali and its concentration, whether it is immersion or splash, dwell time, the substrate, and width plus annual volume. Without the chemistry named, quotes are not comparable.

Can I get samples before committing to volume?

Yes. EJOY ships free samples so you can verify masking and clean removal on your own line before any order.

What are the MOQ and lead time?

EJOY handles project and bulk volumes with custom widths. Send volume and target date with your enquiry and we come back with MOQ, lead time and samples.

Do I need separate tapes for acid and alkali?

In most cases yes — they are quoted as different grades. A general chemical-resistant grade only covers mild, mixed exposure, so name your chemistry and we will tell you which applies.
