Masking for pickling, anodizing or plating fails in predictable ways: the edge lifts, solution creeps underneath, or the adhesive hardens in the bake and refuses to release. Which of those you are fighting decides the grade, and none of them are answered by the phrase “acid resistant”.

Why does the whole process matter, not just the acid bath?

Because a tape can survive the acid and fail in hot alkaline cleaning, in the rinse or in the bake. Qualify against every stage the mask passes through.

How should “no residue” be defined?

As a measurable limit: inspection method, lighting and magnification, maximum residue area, whether a cleaning step is allowed, and the removal temperature and timing it applies at.

Can you supply die-cut masks?

Yes. Send a 2D drawing with tolerances, the liner and tab format and the annual volume. Cut-edge quality usually decides whether a part passes.

What should the production-line trial include?

Real parts through the complete route, photographs at each critical stage, and measurement of creep and residue against your agreed limits.
